Silent Witness
I was drawn to this composition for its striking contrasts—the rugged, notched Douglas fir trunk against the soft, chartreuse moss, all illuminated by dramatic streams of light. Capturing this scene on canvas was a challenge, and there were moments I doubted I could convey the complexities in the textures to my satisfaction. I'm very pleased that my efforts were rewarded.
